What is measured, and what is not

How page views are counted without cookies, IP addresses or third parties.

On this page

Page views are counted by the site's own API. There are no third-party scripts, no advertising and no cookies.

What is recorded#

For each page view: the page path (without query string), the language, the referring site's host name, and a short hash.

The hash#

The hash exists only to count unique visitors within one day. It is computed from the visitor's network (IPv4 truncated to /24, IPv6 to /48) and browser string with a random salt that is replaced every day and kept for 48 hours. After that, the hash cannot be recomputed, even by the site owner. The IP address itself is never stored.

What follows from this#

  • The same visitor on two different days counts as two visitors.
  • Raw events are deleted after 30 days; daily totals are kept.
  • If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all.
